University of Nova Gorica invites to the lecture: "The Challenges of Knowledge" by Prof. Dr. Stane Pejovnik (Rector of the University of Ljubljana).
Lecture will take place on Thursday, 14 March 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.
Lecture will be in Slovene.
We live in a time when we all swear by the “knowledge society”. However, most of the actions and decisions that are taken by state officials as well as by the leading managers in companies are not in line with these strives. State officials often view education as an expense, the executives in influential firms try to save on research and developmental activities in order to cut down the expenses.
What is actually going on on the global level and how does that impact Slovenia?
What is the actual situation in the research area and higher education in general in Slovenia?
Is there room for alternative suggestions and the actual restructuring of individual segments of the whole structure?
Are we even prepared to discuss and accept changes in the organizational structure?
The speaker will try to find the answers to these questions in his lecture. His explanation of the developmental processes will be complemented with a few proposals for possible changes.
