University of Nova Gorica Week
As customary for the beginning of the new academic year, the University of Nova Gorica is organizing several events, all part of the so called University of Nova Gorica Week. Various programs and activities will be in progress between 14 and 18 October, 2013. During this time, different lectures, roundtables, workshops, project presentations, exhibitions and the like will be taking place at the University and its schools, at laboratories and centers. The key event of the week will be the formal celebration marking the kick-off of the new academic year on Thursday.
• On Monday 14 October, 2013, we will be presenting our schools, laboratories, centers and laboratories at the Nova Gorica Town Hall’s arcades. Simultaneously, the big hall in the Nova Gorica Town Hall will host various lectures, aimed at familiarizing the audiences with natural science, humanistic, and art projects and topics that are being investigated at the University of Nova Gorica. At the same time, the new generation of the First and Second Level students will be given their course-and-grade books.
• Scientific evenings. Lecture given by Prof. Dr. Dirk Hoerder titled “Women, Men, Human Capital: the Local and the Global in Migrations over Time” will take place on Wednesday, 16 October 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.
• The ceremony of the begining of the new Academic year 2013/2014 will take place on Thursday, 17 October, 2013 at 18:00 hours at the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava. On this occasion, the following awards will be presented:
- Honorary Doctor Award (Doctor Honoris Causa) to Prof. Dr. Dirk Hoerder
- Golden Plate Award to Ivan Princes, MSc
- Honorary Member Award to Dr. Suzan van Dijk
- Alumnus Primus and Alumnus Optimus Awards
