University of Nova Gorica is extending its internationalization and globalization efforts

The Laboratory of Environmental Research and the Center for Biomedical Sciences and Engineering are hosting fifteen undergraduate students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA during their research work required for completion of their undergraduate degrees, known as Major Qualifying Projects (MQPs).

Students have been engaged in research under the direction of UNG's advisors Prof. Dr. Urška Lavrenčič Štangar, Prof. Dr. Fernando Fresno, Prof. Dr. Elsa Fabbretti and Doc. dr. Giulietta Pinato during their 7-week extensive research experience. The students started working on five different projects on 25 October and will be concluding their work on 17 December, 2013 with a public presentation of their newly acquired data. We anticipate this program will become one of the regular yearly exchanges between UNG and WPI under the auspices of the newly established Global Project Center.

MQP research projects between WPI and UNG are extending ongoing collaborative efforts between WPI Faculty (Prof. DR. Marsha Rolle, Prof. Dr. Glenn Gaudette, Prof. Dr. Terri Camesano and Prof. Dr. Tanja Dominko) and UNG scientists that are already taking place with organization of practical summer courses, revision of graduate program curricula, international workshops, and joint research projects.
