Lecture will be in English.

In the 21st century, the notion of ‘cultural heritage’ is broadly referred to works of art and historic monuments, to historic urban areas and cultural landscapes. It includes tangible and intangible aspects of human creative efforts and traditions. Conservation principles were mainly developed in the second half of the 20th century, adopted in international conventions and charters by international organizations, UNESCO, ICOMOS, Council of Europe.
The conservation of genuine heritage resources is recognized in national legislation worldwide. It is also a major target for world tourism industry. At the same time, there is increasing globalisation in technological development and world trade. In this context, the continuity and control of change in heritage areas is subject to continuous challenges eroding the authenticity and integrity of resources recognized as heritage.
