Events

Under the auspices of ICY (International Comission on Yeasts), during 9-12 October 2014, in Vipava and Nova Gorica, Slovenia we are organizing the 31st International Specialized Symposium on Yeast (ISSY31), which is focused on Yeast fermentations: the yeasts, the pathways and their regulation, and the industrial fermentations (beer, wine, bioethanol, protein production, etc).

31st International Specialized Symposium on Yeast - ISSY31

We have been able to invite a strong selection of top specialists in this field. Thus, ISSY31 will offer the cutting edge of the yeast fermentation research.

Among other topics, ISSY31 will focus on how to expand the knowledge on yeast biodiversity and develop further cell factories for production of heterologous products, production of biofuels, as well as to use them in classical beer and wine fermentations. Several talks will also cover the modelling aspects, for example how to engineer novel non-GMO strains with re-tailored fermentative metabolism, which could produce improved yields of the desired fermentation product.

There will be 250 attendees at the symposium and they are coming from 33 different countries (Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Great Britain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Greece, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Australia, China, South Korea, Canada, the United States, South Africa, Japan).

The chief ISSY31 organizers are the Lund University (Sweden) as part of the EU Cornucopia project, the Jožef Stefan Institute, the University of Nova Gorica, and the company Jubi kinase ApS.
