Final conference of the project AGRI-KNOWS
Final conference of the project AGRI-KNOWS (Transfer of knowledge in agriculture as an added value in protecting the environment) will be held at October 22nd 2014 at 10 am in the Hotel Perla, Nova Gorica, starting at 10.00 am.
The project takes place within the framework of Cross-Border Cooperation between Slovenia - Italy 2007-2013 and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and national funds.
Within the project, experts in the field of environmental sciences transfered the knowledge about problems related to soil pollution from agricultural activities to younger generations, high school students and primary school pupils. Activities were supported by secondary school teachers, who contributed with their pedagogical experiences related to the solving of environmental problems. Special attention was given to the young people who had basic background about environmental pollution, but they did not have enough knowledge about mobility and transformations of various pollutants in the environment. As an added value of the project we were working on increase of their awareness and competences, concerning the environmental protection and human health, which give them a better basis for further education and employment.
We carried out a series of mobility experiments in the secondary schools with some commonly used agricultural chemicals (antibiotics, pesticides, nitrogen compounds, chromium compounds) in the soil. Experimental results and achievements on the level of the entire project will be presented at the Final conference of the project.
