Scientific Evenings Received the “The Prometheus of Science for Excellence in Communication” award

Since 2005, the University of Nova Gorica has been organizing lectures called Scientific Evenings which feature respectable scientists and businessmen from Slovenia and abroad who share their findings and achievements. These evenings are intended for researchers, students and broader public, as their goal is to make science more familiar to the wider public, that is, to ease the understanding of the scientific thought. The themes of these evenings extend from natural sciences to technical issues, environmental questions, medicine, humanities, social studies, and management.

Scientists and businessmen from different areas of work and research have lectured at these Scientific Evenings, including the Nobel Prize winner Prof. Dr. Paul J. Crutzen, the main constructor of the biggest plane in the world Boeing 747, Joseph Sutter, an astronaut of the American NASA agency and a crew member of the STS-116, Dr. Christer Fuglesang, the head manager of the Pipistrel d.o.o. company, Ivo Boscarol, a professor of neurology at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, Dr. Sci. Zvezdan Pirtošek, and many others.

The University of Nova Gorica’s Scientific Evenings surely contribute greatly to the creating and the spreading of the scientific thought in the Goriška region. With its promotion and popularization of science, they contribute to the diversity of the public events in the Goriška region.
