A Book by a Faculty Member of the University of Nova Gorica Won at the Gourmand Best in the World Competition

At the Gourmand Best in the World Competition, the book “Burek: A Culinary Metaphor,” which is a revised version of Dr. Jernej Mlekuž’s dissertation, was chosen as the winning Slovene book and became one of the finalists in the Best Food Writing Book category.

Dr. Jernej Mlekuž successfully completed his studies at the graduate program Intercultural Studies – Comparative Studies of Ideas and Cultures at the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica. His dissertation titled “Predmet kot akter? Primer bureka v Sloveniji” (“An Object as a Protagonist? An Example of burek in Slovenia”) was prepared under the supervision of Full Prof. Dr. Marina Lukšič Hacin and Doc. Dr. Jože Vogrinc. Mlekuž successfully defended his dissertation in 2008.

The official proclamation of the world winner will be in May 2016 in China.
