The symposium will take place between 12 September and 16 September and will bring together more than a hundred renowned professionals in the field of astrophysics from all over the world. They will discuss, among other things, also the latest theoretical models of the black hole systems and their impact on our understanding of astrophysics and cosmology.

At the beginning of the symposium, the participants were greeted by the Chancellor of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Dr. Maja Makovec Brenčič.

During the symposium, the University of Nova Gorica will, in collaboration with the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia, organize an exhibition on black holes which will be held in the lobby of the Parliament building and in the area in front of the entrance to Cankarjev dom. On 12 September, the Chancellor of the University of Nova Gorica Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the President of the National Assembly together saw the exhibition and marked the beginning of the symposium.

As the organizer of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Andreja Gomboc said, “it is a great honor and recognition for Slovenia to hold such a meeting; we were put on the map along with the countries that focus intensely on astronomy”.
