The Highest State Awards in the Field of Scientific-Research and Science Development Activities have been Conferred

On Monday, 21 November 21, Zois awards, the Ambassador of Science Awards of the Republic of Slovenia and Puh awards were given out during a formal ceremony at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.

The recipient of the Zois award for the achievements of the highest quality in the field of the use of wireless numerical methods was Prof. Dr. Božidar Šarler, the Head of the Laboratory for Multiphase Processes at the University of Nova Gorica and the Laboratory for Simulation of Materials and Processes at the Institute of Metals and Technology in Ljubljana.

Zois prize for special achievements in the filed of linguistics was given to Prof. Dr. Franc Marušič, an Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Nova Gorica.

The award the Ambassador of Science of the Republic of Slovenia was given to Prof. Dr. Gregor Cevc, who works in Germany. He’s been a member of the management board of the University of Nova Gorica since 2011.

Apart from the mentioned awards, two more Zois awards were given for life achievements, namely to Prof. Dr. Branko Stanovnik and Prof. Dr. Uroš Skalerič, the Ambassador of Science of the RS award also went to Prof. Dr. Igor Gregorič, Zois award for high-quality achievements went to Prof. Dr. Janko Prunk and four Zois prize for important achievements in the field of research and developmental activities went to Prof. Dr. Iztok Turel, Prof. Dr. Metka Filipič, Prof. Dr. Janez Krč and Doc. Dr. Jernej Fesel Kamenik. Puh award was given to Associate Prof. Dr. Zdenko Časar for his work on the synthesis of healing substances, and Prof. Dr. Miha Jumar, Doc. Dr. Boštjan Lesar, Dr. Nejc Thaler, Gregor Rep, Barbara Šubic and Dr. Aleš Ugovšek for their work in the field of carpentry engineering.
