On 13 October, the University of Nova Gorica, the Scientific Research Center of the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (its Research Station in Nova Gorica), and the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language at the ZRC SAZU organized one-day scientific conference called Škrabčevi dnevi 10.

Škrabec Days 10

This is a linguistic conference that is focused on linguistics, without any limitations in regards to the research subfield, theme, the language of research, the approach, and methodology. With such general outline, Škrabec Days, following the lead of umbrella linguistic associations in Germany, Canada, the US and elsewhere, attempt to fill in the gap that is left by other linguistic conferences that do not offer such plenary meetings which are open to all theoretical approaches and languages that are being researched.

21 speakers attended this year’s jubilee Škrabec Days and 17 different research papers highlighted various linguistic themes, ranging from dialectology, to historical and morphological themes, as well as topics related to the counseling platform for the Slovene language and the Slovene sign system. The last paper dealt with the Friulian language.

The conference took place at the University of Nova Gorica, at 13 Vipavska Street, Rožna Dolina, Nova Gorica. The attendees were greeted by Assistant Professor dr. Rok Žaucer, who is the Head of the Center for Cognitive Sciences at the University of Nova Gorica, and Assistant Professor dr. Danila Zuljan Kumar, the Head of the Research Station of the Scientific Research Center of the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts in Nova Gorica.
