University of Nova Gorica is offering the position of post-doctoral assistant or assistant professor of experimental physics in the area of two-dimensional heterostructures.
Deadline for application: 1. 8. 2019

We are seeking candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research environment supported by the latest research equipment and a focus on involvement in international research.

The work will be conducted at the "Laboratory of Organic Matter Physics":http://www.ung.si/en/research/laboratory-of-organic-matter-physics/. The selected candidate will be involved with the fabrication of graphene-insulator-graphene tunnel heterostructures and studying the role of Moiré patterns on the transport of charges through them. Pursuant to their appointment they will also assume teaching responsibilities in physics courses within the Physics and Astrophysics programme at the School of Science.

Requirements: * doctorate of science in the field of experimental solid-state physics, * experience in graphene exfoliation and atomic force microscopy, * good command of English.

Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge of the principles of measuring transport in van der Waals heterostructures and optical lithography, and candidates who hold the title of assistant professor/docent or who meet the conditions for holding the title of assistant professor/docent.

Work in the position is expected to start on 1 September 2019. Employment is offered for full working hours in a fixed term of one year, with the possibility of extension.
