The University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of research assistant (physics or astrophysics).

We are seeking candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research environment supported by the latest research equipment and a focus on involvement in international research.

The successful candidate will carry out research at the "Centre for Astrophysics and Cosmology":http://www.ung.si/en/research/cac/ on the constellation of nanosatellites for detecting time-varying radiation from high-energy transient sources, such as gamma-ray bursts and electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events. The successful candidate will also assume teaching duties in one or several of the university’s study programmes.

To be considered for the position, candidates should: * have pre-Bologna university-level education or second-cycle Bologna education in physics, astrophysics or a related discipline; * have experience in numerical modelling; * be familiar with the field of gamma-ray bursts; * be able to work independently and as part of a group, and work reliably and with the necessary mastery of detail; * have a good command of the English language.

The following must be attached to the application: * curriculum vitae with proof of educational qualifications; * description of work experience to date; * reference list of scholarly and specialist published material.

Applications must be submitted by 15 August 2019. The successful candidate will be expected to start work as soon as possible after the selection process has been completed. Employment is offered for full-time working hours over a fixed term of one year, with the possibility of extension.
