Post-doctoral assistant or assistant professor of applied mathematics (m/f)
The University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of post-doctoral assistant or assistant professor of applied mathematics.

We are seeking candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research environment with a focus on involvement in the international academic sphere.
The candidate will work at the Centre for Information Technologies and Applied Mathematics as part of an interdisciplinary research team operating at the intersection of computer science, information science, mathematics and systems management technologies. The Centre develops new approaches to modelling and applies them to a variety of fields, from biomedicine to education and industry. It also develops methods for intelligent data analysis and for discovering new knowledge.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the field of applied mathematics, particularly in fields related to mathematical modelling and/or mathematical statistics. In accordance with their appointment, the successful candidate will also take on teaching duties for mathematical subjects in some study programmes.
Eligible candidates should have: * a doctorate in applied mathematics/statistics/mathematics or an engineering discipline, * a good command of English, * the ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
Priority will be given to candidates with experience in mathematical modelling or mathematical statistics, where such experience must be supported by original scholarly publications, and candidates who hold the rank of assistant professor or equivalent or who meet the conditions for holding the rank of assistant professor or equivalent.
The successful candidate would be expected to start work on 1 October 2020. Employment is offered as a full-time position.
