The University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of assistant professor in the field of cultural history.
Deadline for applications: 14. 8. 2020

We are seeking candidates interested in working as an assistant professor at the highly research-oriented University of Nova Gorica. The successful candidate will work at the Research Centre for Humanities in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, supported by the latest research equipment and including direct involvement in the international research arena.

The Research Centre for Humanities operates in the fields of literary studies, cultural history and digital humanities. The approaches mutually complement each other – comparative literary historical research enables reflection on the complexity of human communication and forms of coexistence, cultural history expands historical research to the level of cultural practices, and we understand digital humanities as a critical analysis of and reflection on the methods used in the humanities in the context of the progressive digitalisation of culture and communication media.

Eligible candidates should have: * a doctorate in a field covered by the centre’s research, * at least the rank of assistant professor or the qualifications required for appointment to an equivalent rank, * the ability to work independently, * at least two years’ work experience since obtaining their doctorate, * knowledge of English to at least C1 level.

In accordance with their appointment, the successful candidate will also be involved in the teaching process by giving lectures in study programmes offered by the School of Humanities.

The position will be available immediately on conclusion of the selection process. The successful candidate will be offered a full-time employment contract for a fixed term of 12 months.

The following must be attached to the application: * a curriculum vitae, * proof that the candidate meets the requirements, * a list of the candidate’s scholarly and specialist publications, * a motivational letter, * contact details for references.
