University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy position of post-doctoral researcher at the rank of assistant with Phd or assistant professor in experimental pragmatics and bilingualism.

We are looking for candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research environment supported by state-of-the-art research equipment and a pronounced international orientation.

The work will be conducted in the Center for Cognitve Science of Language. The successful candidate will conduct tasks in experimental pragmatics within the Slovenian Research Agency project on bilingual language processing “Linguistic transfer in the pragmatic domain: Slovenian speakers in a multilingual environment”, led by prof. dr. Penka Stateva. The candidate may be asked to take over some outreach duties and moderate teaching obligations in the university's linguistics programs.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed term of one year, with the possibility to renew for a second year. The expected start date is January 1, 2021 (an earlier start date is possible if the successful candidate can start earlier).

If the candidate holds a valid title of assistant professor and they submit evidence of this, employment at the rank of assistant professor will be considered.

To be considered for the position, candidates should have: * a PhD in linguistics or a related field (e.g. psychology, cognitive science, etc.), * ability to work independently, as well as to work in a team taking on an active role in organizing and conducting behavioural experiments and in recruiting child and adult participants, * a fluent command of Italian (C1 or C2) and English, * a strong background in theoretically-grounded experimental linguistics, psycholinguistics or cognitive science, with a focus on experimental pragmatics, semantics and/or bilingual language processing.

Advantages: * proven research experience or an active research agenda that concerns the relevant linguistics domains, * knowledge of up-to-date statistical methods of data analysis, * experience in using methodologies like EEG/ERP and eye-tracking, * intermediate or advanced knowledge of Slovenian.
