The major celebratory ceremony took place at Slovensko Narodno Gledališče in Nova Gorica on Sathurday, 22 October 2005 at 19.00.
At the ceremony were conferred: Nova Gorica Polytechnic Golden Award to Mr. Črtomir Špacapan, the titles of Honorary Professor to Professor Sidney A. Katz and to Professor Stojan Plesničar and an Honorary Doctorate to Professor Paul J. Crutzen, Nobel Prize Laureate.
The opening speaker was professor Boštjan Žekš, provost of Nova Gorica Polytechnic.
The celebratory speaker was Mr. Janez Janša, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia.
