On January 14 2009, the senat of the University of Nova Gorica has confirmed the foundation of the new School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica, which we prepared in cooperation with Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts from Ljubljana.

School of Arts

In the next study year the school plans to start with the bachelor's programme in Digital Arts and Practices, for accreditation however the University of Nova Gorica has still to acquire the consent of the Council for Higher Education of the Republic of Slovenia.

The School of Arts has been founded upon the fifteen years of groundwork of the Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts in its two- and three-year long academic type art studies. The basic framework of the school is to be the arts and its uses in the broadest possible sense. We see our place in cooperation with other disciplines as well as in implementing creative practices into other fields and vice versa. The University of Nova Gorica will thus enter into the field of the arts and creative practices. The joint experiences of both organisations will in our opinion represent an important contribution to the current offer in Slovenian higher education in the creative field.

The Digital Arts and Practices programme has been developed in accordance with the principles of Bologna declaration, will be based on the three-year long Digital Media programme of Famul Stuart School and will be structured around four basic modules: animation, videofilm, photography and new media. We believe the Bachelor of Arts programme Digital Arts and Practices places itself in an existing gap in the field of education for art professions in digital media.
