TEM hands-on training week @ UNG
The training will be performed on JEM 2100F UHR (JEOL), a field emission transmission electron microscope operating at the acceleration voltage of 200 kV. The UHR polepiece allows lattice resolution of 1 Å in TEM mode. The microscope can also be operated in STEM mode (resolution 0.2 nm), with two electron detectors available (bright-field and annular dark-field). The microscope is equipped with the EDX apparatus (X-MAX 80, Oxford) and a CCD camera (Orius SC1000, GATAN).
Several sample preparation facilities are available: diamond-wire saw, disc polisher, ultrasonic disc-cutter, dimple grinder, Precision Etching and Coating System (PECS, Gatan) and Precision Ion Polishing System (PIPS II, Gatan).
