Univerza v Novi Gorici objavlja delovno mesto podoktorskega sodelavca ali docenta s področja računalniške mehanike. Rok za prijavo: do 4. 7. 2014

The Laboratory for Multiphase Processes at University of Nova Gorica (see http://www.ung.si/en/) is a postdoc to work on computational mechanics with coupled fluids and solids. Postdoc will work with other members of the research team (see publications of the team http://sabotin.ung.si/~sarler/sarler_papers/ ) on:

1) Develop, code and test novel physical models,
2) Further develop meshless methods,
3) Apply this models in coupled fluid and solid mechanics problems, etc.

It is expected that the applicant has a Ph.D. in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical or Materials Engineering.

The candidates are expected to perform also related teaching activities.

Required Skills:
Solid numerical methods and computer coding experience; knowledge of thermodynamics, solid and fluid mechanics; good communication and presentation skills.

Desired Skills:
Experience in coding with FORTRAN or C++ and MATLAB.

The positions will start as soon as possible in 2014. Annual salary will be competitively offered based on the level and experience of the applicant, and will include full employee benefits. Appointment will be made for one year, with possibility to be prolonged after positive evaluation.

Location:
The position is on campus of University of Nova Gorica in Ajdovščina, Slovenia (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajdovščina). Ajdovščina has a beautiful landscape and is situated about an hour drive from capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, few minutes drive from world wonder of Postojna cave (see http://www.postojnska-jama.eu/en/?setLocale=en_US), and two hours drive from Venice (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venice ).
