The Thematization of the First World War in Slovenian Literature

The year 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Great War which has influenced the literature greatly. We have therefore decided to dedicate the expert meeting of Slovenian literature researchers of the Primorska region to this topic.

The meeting will be held on Friday, November 7 in the village Temnica, Kras.

The annual expert meeting is an important event which has been organized since 1990 by the Slovenian studies societies from Nova Gorica, Koper and Trst-Gorica-Videm.

Presentations will be held by: Zoran Božič, Tonja Jelen, Robert Jereb, Klemen Lah, Marija Mercina, Kataja Mihurko Poniž, Bojana Reščič Modrijančič, Adrijana Špacapan, Vladka Tucovič, andVita Žerjal Pavlin. The meeting will be held in tree sections. The First World War and its consequences in secondary school literary textbooks, the position of women in the Great War, the influence on the work of various writers (Prežihov Voranc, Božo Vodušek, Marija Kmet, Damir Feigl, Vida Jeraj, Ciril Drekonja, Stan Kosovel, Anton Batagelj, Igo Gruden, and others), and literary trails by the Soča river will be discussed.

A portion of the meeting will be dedicated to a special edition of the journal Razpotja (a journal dedicated to humanities which is based in the Goriška region) that has been dedicated to Slovenian language.
