The European Researchers’ Night
is a Europe-wide public event, which displays the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives in fun, inspiring ways.

The action is part of the Horizon Europe – the European Union’s flagship Research and Innovation programme.
The European Researchers’ Night aims to

  • bring research and researchers closer to the public
  • promote excellent research projects across Europe and beyond increase the interest of young people in science and research careers
  • showcase the impact of researchers’ work on people’s daily lives.

This year, the event will take place in 29 countries, including Slovenia, on Friday 24 September 2021.

The events will also take place in Maribor, Koper, Izola and Nova Gorica, as part of the project »Science for All/ZnAnosT za vsE — ZATE«. The project consortium partners are: the University of Maribor, the University of Primorska and the University of Nova Gorica. More info here.

The key message of the European Researchers’ Night (ENR 2021) project ZnAnosT za vsE (akronim: ZATE) is that anyone can become a researcher. The project strives to bring the profession of a researcher closer to the general public, increase the awareness of the importance of reseach, innovation and the role of researches, to make the citizens’ understand the impact of researchers’ work on our daily lives and inspire the young to pursue a research career through inviting them to attend various interesting informal events.

This year, due to Covid-19-related restrictions, the majority of events of the European Researchers’ Night will be carried out online, on the Zoom platform) on Friday, 24th September 2021 between 9:00 and 13:00. In this way the events will be available to a larger audience, including primary- and secondary-school students. The events will also be recorded and screened in additional time slots, namely from 14:00 to 17:00.

LOCATIONS OF EVENTS: The majority of events will be carried out online, on the Zoom platform, while certain events will take place in the centre of Nova Gorica, on Bevkov Square and at the Ekscenter, Delpinova 20, Nova Gorica.
