University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of postdoctoral researcher at the rank of assistant with PhD or assistant professor in experimental linguistics and bilingualism.

We are looking for candidates interested in pursuing a rewarding research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer a dynamic research environment supported by state-of-the-art research equipment and a pronounced international orientation.

The work will be conducted in the Center for Cognitve Science of Language. The successful candidate will participate in all stages of the organization and the conducting of behavioural experiments with children and adults within the Slovenian Research Agency project on acquisition of a minority language in a multilingual context, led by prof. dr. Arthur Stepanov. The candidate may be asked to take over moderate teaching obligations in the university's linguistics programs.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed term of one year (pending sufficient funding, there may be a possibility to renew for a second year). The expected start date is November 1, 2021.

If the candidate holds a valid title of assistant professor and they submit evidence of this, employment at the rank of assistant professor will be considered.

To be considered for the position, candidates should have: * a PhD in linguistics or a related field (e.g. psychology, cognitive science, etc.), * a strong background in theoretically-grounded experimental linguistics, psycholinguistics or cognitive science, with a focus on bilingualism and/or experimental linguistics, * ability to work independently, as well as to work in a team taking on an active role in organizing and conducting behavioural experiments and in recruiting child and adult participants, * a fluent command of Italian (C1 or C2) and English, * excellent communication skills, * close familiarity with the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) and its population's broad ethnic distribution.

Advantages: * proven research experience or an active research agenda that concerns the relevant linguistics domains, * knowledge of up-to-date statistical methods of data analysis, * intermediate or advanced knowledge of Slovenian.
