About the war in Ukraine

Dear Sir/Madam,
As a resident of Slovenia who started a family in Slovenia, I am employed in a research organisation and pay my taxes here, and above all, as I am of Ukrainian decent, I cannot keep quiet about the unimaginable tragedy in 21st century Europe that is currently taking place in Ukraine. Russia is attacking Ukraine. There is no need to emphasise that no war has ever brought anything other than devastation and suffering that spread through countries and generations.

I am deeply grateful to the Slovenian public and politicians for their united front against Russia’s aggression.

Ukraine urgently needs constant and continued support, both in terms of economic sanctions that would have an actual impact on Russian politics and its aggression, as well as military support for the defence of Ukrainian citizens and Europe’s eastern border. I believe that you will support such actions. I also strongly hope that Slovenian politicians and other Ukrainian allies will not give up and simply move on, as was the case after 2014, when Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimea and continued its secret aggression in eastern Ukraine.

I would also like to offer my time as a volunteer to contribute to any efforts in support of Ukraine. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you believe I can be of assistance.

Kind regards,

Dr. Nadiia Pastukhova
