Objectives and competences

The objective of the course is to make the students familiar to the basic knowledge of creation and storage of digital content and databases. This course will enable students to apply the acquired knowledge to relevant practical situations in the field. In this way, students will be able to master the digital resources and documents.


The knowledge of mathematics, physics, especially in the field of numerical formations and mathematical functions, drawing diagrams and charts.

Successfully performed final written exam and regular knowledge assessment with homework, midterm exams and project work. Positive grade in the regular work is required for admittance to the final written exam. Homework and project work is required to evaluate the ability of using computational tools in the field of digital resource and document management. The final written exam assesses the knowledge of the fundamental concepts of information science, the understanding of structure and operation of digital resources and the understanding of document management. 40% regular konwledge assessment and 60% final written exam.

Lecturer's references

Dr. Imre Cikajlo, is adjunct professor of electrical engineering (rank of full professor) received his PhD degree in robotics and electrical engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2003. From 2003 until 2004 he was a post-doc fellow at the Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan and in 2007 a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo, Japan. Currently he is a Senior Research Associate at the University rehabilitation institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia and an Adjunct Full Professor at the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia. Prof. Cikajlo took part in several EU-FP7 projects (GENTLE/S, MIMICS, CORBYS), H2020 (PD_manager) and startup (MindMyths Ltd.) and company supported projects (Gorenje). He published more than 50 journal papers, altogether more than 100 papers, book chapters and books and holds a patent in EU and USA. In 2000 he received the Prešeren Award from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. His research interests include human motion analysis and synthesis, biomechanics, integration of sensory information, control of machine and human movements and rehabilitation robotics. Currently he is involved in the development of rehabilitation devices and procedures that may be used in clinical and/or home environment through application of telerehabilitation techniques and introduction of virtual reality in rehabilitation. He is also a member of ISVR, IFMBE and IEEE.
