On 2 July , 2013 at 10 a.m., the University of Nova Gorica will organize an event called “Developmental Projects of the University of Nova Gorica at the Crossroads of National and Trans-border Challenges”. It will be held at the University’s space in the Lanthieri mansion in Vipava.

In this fiscal year, the University of Nova Gorica has been extremely successful at getting money from various European monetary funds. As part of our 28 international projects that have been in progress (and some completed already) at the University, we have managed to gain over 8 million Euros.

The event will focus on the most important future projects of the University of Nova Gorica. During the discussion that will follow the event, we will expose the role of the University as the most important regional institution in the Gorica region and as an added value for our local environment, stemming mostly from the University’s developmental projects that support sustainability. These projects enable us to proceed with additional developmental activities which would otherwise be impossible to finance and realize. It is these activities that, through transmission of technologies and knowledge and, moreover, their connection with economy, enable increase in competitiveness, and, finally, denote the most important step towards the knowledge society. Apart from the new ideas, we will also present plans for capitalization of results and for continuation of the existing projects.

The main speakers at the event will be:

  • Mag. Stanko Stepišnik, Minister for Economic Development and Technology
  • Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik, Rector of the University of Nova Gorica
  • Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina, Vice-rector for research and arts of the University of Nova Gorica
  • Prof. Dr. Mladen Franko, Vice-rector for education of the University of Nova Gorica
  • Prof. Dr. Matjaž Valant, Coordinator of the SUNGREEN project
  • Prof. Dr. Giovanni De Ninno, Head of the CITIUS project
