General requirements for enrolment are:

  • direction Linguistic: A finished 180 ECTS Ist cycle program in Linguistics, Domestic or Foreign languages, Philology, Classical languages.
  • direction Literary Science: A finished 180 ECTS Ist cycle program in Slovenian studies, Comparative Literature, Philology, Modern or Classical languages or any other Humanities that includes literature and related fields.

Applicants with a first degree in other fields of study (180 ECTS) should send the application to the School’ study programme committee.

Applicants who have obtained 4-year BSc degrees (old pre-bologna study programme) in the fields of Linguistics, Domestic or Foreign languages, Philology, Classical languages or a BA/BS degree in philosophy, psychology, social sciences with a total of 240 ECTS, can proceed to the second year of the Master’s programme. Applicants should send the application to the School’ study programme committee.
Applicants who have obtained 4-year BSc degrees (old pre-bologna study programme) in the fields of Slovenian studies, Comparative Literature, Philology, Modern or Classical languages or any other Humanities that includes literature and related fields with a total of 240 ECTS, can proceed to the second year of the Master’s programme. Applicants should send the application to the School’ study programme committee.

According to the criteria for transitions, students of second-cycle study programs can transfer to the 2nd year from any field that ensures the acquisition of comparable competencies upon completion of studies from the first study program. Students apply for a programme and send a request to the School’ study programme committee which determines the missing obligations they must fulfil if they want to graduate in the new program.

Please notice that direction Literary Science will be available in English language only if minimum 5 English-speaking students will enroll!
Direction Linguistic is available in English language.
The general minimum level of English language skills required is B2 (in accordance with CEFR).

SPECIAL NOTE: Starting with the 2020/21 academic year, the programme (Linguistic) offers an option of awarding a double degree in Language Science, in collaboration with Ca’Foscari University of Venice.The main characteristics of the programme are: focus on individual research work, a range of electives covering all major subdisciplines of linguistics, and students’ participation in on-going research activities.

Candidates who wish to apply to a double degree in Language Science in collaboration with Ca’Foscari University of Venice, must apply to both programmes. Information on admission to „Language Science”, Ca’Foscari University of Venice, are available here.
