Prof. Dr. Oto Luthar, the director of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Science and Arts (ZRC SAZU) and profesor of the School of Humanities at the University of Nova Gorica, was conferred the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art for his contribution to mutual understanding and to the improvement of relations between Slovenia and Austria.

The decoration was presented to him in Ljubljana by Austrian Ambassador Erwin Kubesch on the behalf of Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
