Professor of the University of Nova Gorica the new President of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts

Prof. Dr. Tadej Bajd who is affiliated with the University of Nova Gorica, has been recently elected as the new President of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Prof. Dr. Tadej Bajd is a member of the University of Nova Gorica’s Senate and a Professor at the School of Engineering and Management. Among his original research achievements are: a system for computer monitoring of biomechanical parameters of walking, a system for measuring spasticity, a synthesis of minimal walking patterns by using a functional electric stimulation for people with total or partial spinal cord defect, the modeling of stability of four-point walking and a conscious managing of systems of functional electric stimulation.

Apart from the new President, the Slovenian Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts also got a new Vice-president, Prof. Dr. Andrej Kranjc, a longtime director of the graduate program “Karstology” at the University of Nova Gorica and a recipient of the title Professor Emeritus. Prof. dr. Kranjc is a member of the University of Nova Gorica’s Senate and is still a professor at the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica. His research involves physical speleology and karstology. Lately, he has also been devoting his research to ecological questions concerning the Karst region, in particular the regional park of Škocjan caves, as well as the history of karstology, speleology and the research of the Slovenian Karst.
