The Highest State Awards in the Area of Scientific, Research and Developmental Activities have been Awarded
On Friday, 21 November, 2014 Zois’s awards and certificates, the Ambassador of Science awards and Puh’s recognition awards were given out at the grand award ceremony at the Brdo Congress Center.
The recipient of the Zois’s award for significant achievements in the field of physics of light sources was Prof. Dr. Giovanni De Ninno, the Head of the Quantum Optics Center at the University of Nova Gorica.
Puh’s award for the development of the new system for grape pressing with automated adding of the new enological elements during the pressing time was received by Dr. Klemen Lisjak, lecturer at the School for Viticulture and Enology and a researcher at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.
The Ambassador of Science of the Republic of Slovenia award was received by Prof. Dr. Urška Vrhovšek, who collaborates with the Wine Research Center at the University of Nova Gorica. She also worked on preparing the syllabus for the Viticulture and Enology program at the University of Nova Gorica.
Apart from the above awards, two Zois’s awards for life’s achievements in academia have been awarded to Prof. Dr. Vito Turk and academic professor Dr. Janez Levec. Two Zois’s awards for superb achievements in the area of scientific, research, and developmental activities went to Prof. Dr. Milena Horvat and Prof. Dr. Gorazdo Meško, four Zois’s awards for significant achievements in the area of scientific, research, and developmental activities went to Prof. Dr. Maja Rupnik, Prof. Dr. Mitja Ferenc, Associate Prof. Dr. Andrej Kitanovski, and in Prof. Dr. Janez Vrečko, the recognition award of the Republic of Slovenia - the Ambassador of Science was given to Prof. Dr. Jure Leskovec, and Puh’s awards for invention, development achievements and the use of scientific research for introducing novelties into the economic field went to Prof. Dr. Vladka Gaberc Porekar, Tatjana Milunović, MSc. Ana Jesenko, Dr. Simona Jevševar, Dr. Maja Kenig, Sašo Tomše and Nebojša Furlan.
