Cooperation of the University of Nova Gorica and the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p.

On Friday, 15 May, 2015, the Rector of the University of Nova Gorica Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and the head manager of the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p., Mag. Ivan Princes signed an agreement which gives the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p. the status of an associate organisation of the University of Nova Gorica and became an integral part of the University of Nova Gorica’s system.

The system of the University of Nova Gorica welcomes all organisations that can contribute to the university’s program and overall system with their developmental, scholarly, clinical, artistic, or other activities to join as adjunct organisations. The Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p. is the first organisation which, based on the decision made by the Senate and the University’s Management Board, gained the status of the University’s adjunct organisation.

With the accession of the Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p. to the University of Nova Gorica’s system of operation, both institutions will closely link their activities and moreover, upgrade them with the purpose of reaching higher level of scientific and professional success and also, in order to enable the creation and launching of new, interesting scientific and study programs.

The Veterinary Hospital Vipava Ivan Princes s.p. with its expertize and clinical programs enriches the existing activities at the University of Nova Gorica. As part of their mutual collaboration and work, the institutions will provide a laboratory for testing animals, they will acquire research licenses and establish and develop new animal models for the study of neurodegenerative diseases, physical trauma in the brain and the spine, pain, immune diseases, and cell transplantation for therapeutic purposes, and finally, for the research of environmental influences and climate changes that affect our cardiovascular system.
