The Vesna and Restart Awards for best student film went to Valerija Zabret a.k.a. Valerie Wolf Gang, the author of the film Oddaljen spomin (Distant Memory), a production of the School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica.

At this year's 18th Festival of Slovenian Film (FSF), which was held in Portorož from 15th to 20th September 2015, Valerija's film convinced the Expert Jury Committee and beat the fierce competition of selected study feature films, documentaries, experimental and animated films.

In the film Oddaljen spomin (Distant Memory), the author provides a poetic depiction of the era prior to collapse of Yugoslavia and encourages the audience to reflect upon the horrors of war and the transience of memory. According to the observations of the members of the Jury Committee, "the film merges inquisitiveness, genuine amazement and the freedom of expression into a unique film perspective, which finds beauty in the world which merely exists in a film".

The School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica offers the first-level study programme Digital Arts and Practices, and the second-level study programme Media Arts and Practices, covering the areas of film, animated film, photography, new media and contemporary art practices.

Congratulations!
