In the 2016/2017 academic year, international students represent 40% of the entire student population. At the moment, the undergraduate programs have 33% of international students, the Master’s programs have 45%, and the PhD programs a high number of 57% of foreign students. They come from forty-two different countries, in Europe and from other continents. The University is also becoming an attractive environment for foreign scientists and professors, hence the number of foreign professionals that are employed by the UNG is constantly increasing and right now stands at as high a number as 30% of all the employed faculty members and researchers.

In the 2016/2017 academic year, the interest of foreign students for the studies at the School of Engineering and Management of the University of Nova Gorica has increased dramatically. The students who entered this school for the first time this year, come from ten different countries. Among them, the largest number of them are from Nepal. In the past week, twenty-seven of them arrived to Nova Gorica. Twenty-five of them are part-time students of Engineering and Management (Bachelor’s degree level) and two of them are studying the same thing at the Master’s level. Their first impressions are excellent. They are very grateful for the kindness and support that they have received while trying to integrate into new environment, both at the University as well as in their student dormitories. Volunteers – students at the UNG – have been helping them with acquiring a lot of useful information and have already taught them a few Slovenian words.
