Yesterday, at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, the Mira award was given as part of the event dedicated to the writer Luiza Pesjak (the event also featured Slovene and Austrian compositions for piano and solo voice).

The Mira award for Neda Rusjan Bric

This year’s awardee is an actress, director and writer Neda Rusjan Bric, who has been collaborating with the University of Nova Gorica’s School of Arts since the very beginning as a lecturer for screen writing and acting.

The Mira award is given by the Women’s Section of the Slovene PEN Center, MIRA, and the purpose of the award is to mark exceptional achievements in the field of literary work and excellence of one’s personal stance.

The awardee was also a subject of a B.A: thesis of a student at the School of Humanities at the University of Nova Gorica, Maja Orel. The thesis is titled: “Documentary aspects in the authorial poetics of Neda Rusjan Bric.” Maja Orel, together with Dr. Rok Andres (who graduated at the University of Nova Gorica) and Prof. Dr. Katjo Mihurko Poniž also proposed that Nedo Rusjan Bric is nominated for the award.
