Third Europea Wine Championship
From 15th to 20th March the THIRD EUROPEA WINE CHAMPIONSHIP took place in Santo Tirso, Portugal. Among the participants, aged between 17 and 25, were also two students of the School of Viticulture and Enology of the University of Nova Gorica.
The School of Viticulture and Enology of the University of Nova Gorica was represented by Peter Bakaršič and Marko Benčina, third year students, accompanied by their mentor, Melita Sternad Lemut. Once again they achieved excellent results at the competition - last year's remarkable achievements (two 2nd positions) were improved by adding 1st and 5th positions in the category of Grape growing; 3rd and 5th positions in the category of Wine making; an overall victory (with all points achieved) in the category of Wine degustation and an excellent 2nd position in Team competition. In addition, Peter Bakaršič earned the title of European champion in the overall standings.
