IN PRAGUE AT THE END OF MARCH
At the end of March, our students travelled to Prague under the expert guidance of doc. dr. Jasna Fakin Bajec. The excursion happened as part of the project CEEPUS_Women Writers in History, which is coordinated by prof. dr. Katja Mihurko. Students immersed themselves in the experience of tourist guides within the framework of the course Cultural Tourism. Moreover, they discovered the advantages and pitfalls of cultural tourism. Together with the students of the Faculty of Humanities of the Charles University in Prague, they were a part of the opening of the Slovenian Literary Modernism in the Czech Environment exhibition. In addition, they had the chance to attend the unveiling of the commemorative plaque to the writer Zofka Kveder.
PHILOSLAVICA 2023: 11th Symposium of Young Slavists
The Dialogue between Centres and Peripheries in Slavic Languages and Literatures
Philoslavica is a symposium aimed at students and young researchers in the fields of linguistics, literary studies, didactics and translation studies of Slavic languages. It is organized annually by the student section of the Slavic Society of Slovenia at one of the universities in Slovenia or in neighboring countries in order to provide young researchers with international contacts, useful experience in scientific writing, and critical thinking.
This year's symposium is organized by the Student Section of the Association of Slavic Societies of Slovenia and the School of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica. This year’s event will be held from 1 to 2 December 2023 at the School of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica (Vipavska 13, SI-5000 Nova Gorica).

Conversation "Slovenščina v ali izven znanosti"
We kindly invite you to a conversation on the status of Slovenian in Science. The event is a part of the Dialogi_čez_ series, organised by the School of Humanities and will take place in Xcenter (Nova Gorica) on Thursday, October 26 at 6pm. We will be joined by Vesna Mikolič, Miran Hladnik and Boštjan Golob. The conversation will be hosted by Franc Marušič.

Škrabčevi dnevi 13
Škrabčevi dnevi are coming back to Nova Gorica!
On Friday, October 20, 2023, the thirteenth edition of the Škrabčevi dnevi linguistics symposium will take place in Nova Gorica. At this year's meeting, you will be able to hear fifteen talks, which will be given by linguists from institutions in Slovenia, Austria and Italy. We are especially happy that the participating speakers are both long-term language researchers as well as students.
The event will take place in Slovenian.

The European Cross-Border University (ACROSS) announces the Summer School “Formal, Computational and Experimental Approaches in Linguistics 2023” (FEAL 2023).
As a collaboration among the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), University of Craiova (Romania), and University of Udine (Italy), FEAL 2023 represents an interdisciplinary training opportunity for BA, MA and PhD students from linguistics, applied mathematics, psychology, and neuroscience.
The school is dedicated to formal, computational and experimental approaches in linguistics and offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary training of linguistics students at all levels of study. Within the school, the participants will learn about various topics in the field of linguistics (from syntax to experimental methods), applied mathematics, psychology, neuroscience, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Fifteen students of the universities of the ACROSS network, which includes UNG, will also be given the opportunity to receive a scholarship for participation.

The Faculty of Humanities is organising three summer schools this summer:
Intimacy in Women's Writing and Reading

22nd–27th August 2022; Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, Slovenia
The school was organised by the CEEPUS Women Writers in History Network and the Women Writers Route Association, within the framework of the European Women Writers Course, offered by the School of Humanities (MA Programme Slovene Studies) of the University of Nova Gorica. From August 22 to 27, the Intimacy in Women's Writing and Reading Summer School was held, organised by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Nova Gorica, the Association of Writers' Path and the Ceepus Network Women Writers in History. Participants from seven European countries took part in a six-day programme on women writers and intimacy. Activities took place at various locations in Ljubljana, and in Nova Gorica. On the one-day trip they visited Gorizia, Vipava Križ, and Vipava, and the exhibition at the House of »aleksandrinke« in the village Prvačina.

Into Blue Futures: A Speculative Workshop in Strategic Foresight
The Metamedia Association in collaboration with The Arts Academy in Split (Croatia) and the University of Nova Gorica(Slovenia) is organising a Speculative Design workshop under the title “Into Blue Futures: A Speculative Workshop in Strategic Foresight ’’. The workshop will be led by Maja Grakalic and pETER Purg.
In this workshop, participants will explore tools and methods of Strategic Foresight, a discipline that works closely with Speculative Design, and combine them with particular approaches in Art Thinking.

International Summer School on Bilingualism and Multilingualism

The European Cross-Border University (ACROSS) is happy to announce the “International Summer School on Bilingualism and Multilingualism” (ISSBM 2022).
The international summer school is intended for BA, MA and PhD students interested in the field of Linguistics with a focus on bilingualism, multilingualism and second language acquisition. We will also cover topics related with heritage and minorities languages.

RETHINKABLE
Cross-border festival of transformative economies and territorial communities
14-22 October 2022 Gorizia - Nova Gorica
Rethinking the socio-economic model to be more people- and environment-centred, with interpersonal relations and ecology at the fore. This is the challenge that RethinkAble, the Cross-Border Festival of Transformative Economies and Territorial Communities, which will take place between Gorizia and Nova Gorica from 14 to 22 October, aims to address. The opening of the UNG School of Arts "Composing Local Ecologies" exhibition will kickstart the festival, on Friday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Xcenter (Nova Gorica). This is also where on October 21st at 11.00 the scientific panel ECOLOGICAL CRISIS AND CRITICISM organized by the UNG Faculty of Humanities (in English) will take place.

Xcenter in Nova Gorica
Two Humanities hengaut events have already been held last year: students, pupils and visitors have joined together to explore humanistic thought in a playful way in the centre of Nova Gorica. The two events were dedicated to fostering creative critical discourse and to bringing together different humanistic disciplines such as linguistics, literature, history, art and philosophy in a fun way.
