Assistant PhD student in the field of protein nanoparticles (m/f)
The University of Nova Gorica is offering two positions of assistant PhD student in the field of protein nanoparticles.

The Laboratory for Environmental and Life sciences invites applications from candidates interested in research in the field of protein nanoparticles. We seek a researcher interested in the multidisciplinary project that will require interest, and provide competences, in structural biology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
First working position is to work on a Polish-Slovenian bilateral project entitled "The influence of nanoscale three-dimensional arrangement of proteins on their biological and therapeutic activity«.
The chosen candidate will work towards developing protein/DNA nanoparticles in collaboration with the partner institute in Poland.
Second working position is to work on a trilateral project (Slovenia, Austria, Czech republic) entitled "Nanoscale Organisation of NK cell receptor-ligand complexes«.
The chosen candidate will work towards isolating ligands and prepare reagents suitable for the study of cell receptors in collaboration with the partner institutes.
The project is funded for four years and offers the opportunity for both local travel to work in regional facilities and longer training periods abroad.
As part of their employment, the candidate will work towards attaining a PhD degree as a student in the University of Nova Gorica’s 3rd-cycle (doctoral) study program Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the Graduate School .The candidate may also be asked to take on teaching obligations in the field of biochemistry and biotechnology in selected study programmes at the university.
The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed term of four years. The expected start date is October 1st, 2023.
The successful candidate should satisfy the following requirements:
- Master's (2nd-cycle) degree or equivalent in the field of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, microbiology or similar,
- enrolment in the 3rd-cycle program in the Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica in the 2023/24 academic year,
- good command of English.

The research work will be in Laboratory for Environmental and Life sciences under the mentorship of prof. dr. Ario de Marco.
