Objectives and competences

The students acquire the in-depth knowledge necessary for a critical definition to the current professional and political priorities of the direction of development in the field of sustainability. They understand the balanced three-dimensional concept of sustainability and the processes of sustainable development and the circular economy.

Content

The course comprehensively presents the field of the sustainability. Students become familiar with the fundamental concepts and the current paradigm, which is normative on the one hand and depends on social perception on the other. The content covers a conceptual insight into the issue of the sustainability and offers students the necessary knowledge in the field of environmental protection, economics, social sciences, regional development, energy, circular economy and processes/technologies from the point of view of industrial ecology, which have the most important impact on humanity globally and locally.
Content emphases are adjusted according to the field of research work of the students in agreement with the mentors.

Intended learning outcomes

The ability to independently and objectively synthesize the general direction of social development and particular directions of development of technologies/processes, based on scientific foundations and methods, taking into account the social, environmental and economic aspects.
