The University of Nova Gorica is offering collaboration to an external expert advisor in the field of pedagogy.

We are seeking an experienced expert to assure the highest possible pedagogical quality in the new international master’s degree program Leadership in Open Education.

The contract will be offered to an expert with a background in pedagogy, with good knowledge and practical experience in instructional design, active learning, and project- and competency-based education. Knowledge and experience in e-learning and blended learning pedagogical and didactical approaches at an expert level is also expected.

The program Leadership in Open Education is offered at the School of Engineering and Management at the University of Nova Gorica. The selected expert will advice the faculty for the program and will work in collaboration with the Dean of the School, addressing challenges inherent to the field of open education. The goal of the master’s degree program is to develop next-generation leaders in open education, who have a command of the state of the art in the application of open educational resources to address educational, social, business and governmental issues. Based on the thorough review of the program, the expert will address challenges inherent to the field of open education with the faculty for the program and will assist them with advice how to achieve identified learning outcomes with appropriate pedagogical and didactical approaches. Because of the importance of student projects selection and completion, he or she will also ensure an optimal degree of alignment between the curricular pathways and project identification, management, and completion.

Students will represent a broad spectrum, geographically, culturally, linguistically and socially. It will be necessary to manage inherent tension between general principals to be taught with students’ needs to develop from these general principles ideas, projects, and applications specific to local contexts. The selected expert will assist the faculty in thinking through the diversity of background and purpose to enable the richest possible educational experience for each of the students.

The program will start in October 2020. Preference will be given to candidates with the possibility to start working as soon as possible, and to be available e to contribute in an equivalent to 20% of a full working load throughout the academic year 2020/21. It is anticipated that the work will be done on distance, including webinars (available to all university staff) and consultations through regular videoconferences. The possibility of visits and potential extension to a more intensive long-term cooperation including occasional stays at the location of the university will also be considered as an advantage.
